How can I find the link to a file on a ftp server?
My client has given me a login to their ftp account, and I've managed to upload the file. I just can't work out how to find the url to download it from?

where you upload
will be the download
url. So you don't need to find
it. Also FtpWebResponse.ResponseUri will return the path from which the response for your upload request came. So I think you can use that path.

Hi...our organization is upgrading to sharepoint 2010 from an earlier version. In the earlier version, it was very easy to link to a document in a sharepoint library, from MS Access or Excel. But now, on 2010 version, simply linking to the URL
of the document no longer works. It's like the file does not really exist in the location noted if you grab a shortcut URL.
Does anyone have any idea how we can continue to link to sharepoint 2010 documents, so all of our nicely linked access and excel processes continue to work
Hopefully I am making sense?

I'm having a problem with Document ID's. I'd like to be able to navigate to a document library, select a document, and "E-mail a link". However, the link that appears in the default email client message is a URL to the location of the document
- not the DocID redirect.
I have made sure to see that Document ID's feature is turned on from the top site level, and viewed the properties of the document in above mentioned example to verify that a Document ID has indeed been assigned. So, it appears that the Document ID
service and normal indexing is functioning.

I have a Silverlight app, in one section, we have a hyperlink to an document repository web site, that has our documents. You can see this setup here:
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4406/docnum.png in the transaction section, "Doc Num".
We have customers, within databases. Currently all the hyperlink requests go to one URL. Now we have to send the request to a specific URL based on our database. I need to change the following code to be able to determine, which
customer or which database it belongs to, then direct the code to go to that URL. IOW, if i have database Dietary, the url will be Dietarytech&lck, instead of medicaltech&lck
It can all be hard coded. (customerdatabase can be used. ) I need help setting up the loop - which database to which url.
the code that does this hyperlink is: http://pastebin.com/R0ykEi08
I think I am lost on the starting part - how do you use role link with direct binding?
Can we give a link to "Create a new item" of list at left navigation of a site without coding, means can we use SPD or simple way to create this link without coding?
Thanks in advance.
I've inherited a site that does the following:
- Indexes a large number of zipfilesRead more...
- Each zipfile is associated with a "summary page" - it's kind of like a customized properties page that displays the metadata/attributes for that zipfile
- When a search is performed, it returns search results that are hyperlinked to the summary page. However, the search scope is set to the document repository, so this is custom functionality that was built.
Our requirement is to customize Enterprise Search Result so that we can:
- Modify the URL/hyperlinked search results to point to the summary pages instead of directly to the file
- Display whatever custom columns we desire.
I know that we can customize columns that are displayed, and this is a relatively easy task, but has anyone tried modifying the URL that is returned, while still using the Core Search Results web part? Or do we have no choice but to stick iwth an absolutely
I have a SharePoint List. In that list, one of the fields is set as a hyperlink configured to point to a particular document in a SharePoint Document Library.
Clicking the link opens the document - not a problem. But when I make a change to the document and attempt to save it back, it doesn't simply check it back in with the changes I made. It doesn't allow me to save it back with the changes.
The document is not being checked out to edit - it's simply being opened. How do I get it to check the document OUT (and then back IN including changes) with the credentials of the SharePoint user clicking the link?Read more...
I have created a data connection library in MOSS 2007 which contains several data connections created and published by Excel 2007.
If I try to use a direct link (http://[MOSS site]/[MOSS library]/[document name].odc) to any of the files in the library, the browser displays HTTP 404 and not found error. This would generally mean I use the wrong ODC file name but in my case - this only happens in IE6 in some cases. The exact same link works fine in IE7.
Also, if I try to open the ODC file from the library (by clicking on the name) in the case with IE6 above, it works fine.
Has anyone seen such behavour?
Any ideas will be appreciated!
I have the url of a file. Now I want to run the GetVersion webservice to get the versions of the file but this webservice takes the file url. So I need to break the full url into two parts SiteUrl + fileUrl. How can I do that using webservice.
I know a method using FPRPC method "url to web url" call but that method is not working if the file url contains character of languages other than English.If someone has any idea about this issue as well than it would be a great help.

Hello, New to the forum and have limited programming skills, so please bare with me as I try to explain my issue. I have previously built an Access (2000) database that utilize linked text files that I update on a daily basis. I have just upconverted to
Access 2010 hoping that I would be able to link directly with our internal corporate FTP site, where I can program to have the data transfered automatically. I have been able to connect to the FTP site via MS Explorer and program the data files to be refreshed
on a daily schedule. When I attempt to connect via "link to the data source by creating a linked table" - I get the following: "This error is usually associated with an attempt to access an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Web site through a firewall or proxy
server and the proxy settings are not set correctly to gain access. To avoid this error, change the FTP proxy settings to allow access to the site." As I have searched thru other blogs - this error message might be another way of saying that Access 2010 can't
link to the FTP site - or do I need to change my FTP Proxy settings? Again, if I can connect via Explorer.. shouldn't I already have the correct settings? If anyone has thoughts or comments, I would greatly appreciate it.Read more...
I have an app that records audio from the soundcard, saves as wave file at sampling rate of 44100/16bits. This gives a datasize of 10MB/min. For large recordings > 30 mins the file size becomes very large.
The app, after recording saves the file as .wav, analyses the audio, splits the wav into smaller waves based on some config settings then performs some other processing.
My problem is the file size really, and the implications of saving the large files. Could anybody suggest an alternative process to capture this large amount of audio?
The application is working now but performance is seriously effected with 1hour recording (600MB wave file) and memory allocation exceptions occur.
Any help/thought/ideas would be gratefully appreciated.
VB 2008 express:
I'm making a calender to keep appointments, & events in. When I click a calender date,( Calender is the calender from datetimepicker) a richtextbox appears to write in. This is the save code I use, which works well.
PrivateSub CloseFileToolStripMenuItem1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CloseFileToolStripMenuItem1.Click
Dim saveFile1 AsNew SaveFileDialog()
saveFile1.InitialDirectory = _
"C:\Documents and Settings\doc\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\calender 2 datetimepick\calender 2 datetimepick\Resources"' Initialize the OpenFileDialog to look for RTF files.
saveFile1.FileName = DateTimePicker1.Text
If (saveFile1.ShowDialog() = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK) And _
(saveFile1.FileName.Length > 0) Then
saveFile1.DefaultExt = "*.rtf"
saveFile1.Filter = "RTF Files|calender 2 datetimepick*.RTF"
My problem is, I want the next click on that date to open the file without the use of a openfiledialog. This is the latest of many codes I have tried to open the file directly, but as all sp far, this too fails. Here's the code...
PrivateSub DateTimePicker1_ValueChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles DateTimePicker1.ValueChanged
TextBox1.Text = DateTimePicker1.Text
Dim q1 AsString = TextBox1.Text
Me.RichTextBox1.LoadFile("C:\Documents and Settings\doc\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\calender 2 datetimepick\calender 2 datetimepick\Resources\q1", RichTextBoxStreamType.PlainText)
Could someone please tell me what I;m doing wrong here? Oh, heres the exception i'm getting...
File not found exception:
Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\doc\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\calender 2 datetimepick\calender 2 datetimepick\Resources\q1'.

I have provided my setting and environment information below. My goal is to set Report Manager and Report Server URL with SSL connection so all URLs uses HTTPS (Secure connection) all the time. and remove HTTP access .
I applied following settings for this but I am getting errors. With Current Settings that I mensioned below, I am able to login into WebService URL successfully with all links working. For Report Manager URL I logged in successfully
but for some pages I am getting HTTP links instead HTTPS. It shows HTTP links for new datasource link, upload file link, subscription links so it shows blank page
I tried to look for solution and I applied but did not worked. I did some experiment with changing urls using application and manually from RSReportServer.config file but still not succedded.
Steps taken to solve problem:
To force to use HTTPS only, I tried to change SecureConnectionLevel = 0 to 1,2 or 3 but when accessing to Report Manager it gives 401 Authentication error.
If I remove http://+:80/ReportServer
and tried to visit 2nd URL with HTTPS. The Web Service URL opens successfully. but Report Manager url gives me error 'request failed with HTTP status
401: Unauthorized' To solve 401: Unauthorized error, I followed this article
but not solved my error. I tried to set ReportServerUrl also as shown below.
Reporting Service configuratin tool setting
Web Serivice URL - 1st URL) http://+:80/ReportServer 2nd URL)
Report Manager URL - https://rs.test.abc.com:443
RSReportServer.config file settings
SecureConnectionLevel = 0

Server2 (report_db_srv) --windows server 2003r2 64bit, sql server 2005 for report server database
(Note: I am using domain user. Report Server and User both are in different domain. but everything was working fine on port 80 without SSL with default settings i.e. http://fully

Our organization has Sharepoint 2007 running in integrated mode with Reporting Services 2008.
